Connect Slack: event notifications in a channel
Get a rich Slack notification in a channel every time an event changes status: confirmed, option, lost, cancelled — with a direct link to the event.
A confirmed event is news the whole team should see go by — not just the person who clicked. The Slack integration posts a notification to the channel of your choice on every event status change, with the key details and a direct link.
What you will learn
- Connect Slack to your workspace
- Pick the channel and the statuses that notify
- Read the notifications that are sent
Prerequisites
- Owner or admin role on the Joinways workspace.
- Permission to install an app on your Slack workspace.
Connect Slack
- Open Settings > Integrations, Communication tab.
- On the Slack card, click Connect.
- Authorize Joinways in Slack, then come back: the “Slack settings” window opens automatically.
Configure notifications
- Channel. Pick the destination channel — a single one per workspace. Public and private channels are listed; for a private channel, invite the Joinways app to the channel first.
- “Notify when the status changes to”. Four switches: Option, Confirmed, Lost, Cancelled. By default, only “Confirmed” is on.
- Test. The “Test” button sends a verification message to the selected channel.
- Click Save.
What a notification contains
Each message shows the status with its emoji (✅ confirmed, 🟡 option, 🔴 lost, ⛔ cancelled), the date and time, the venue, the number of guests, the amount, the owner, the company and the contact — and a “View event” button that opens the record in Joinways.
When a quote amendment is signed on an already-confirmed event, an “Amendment confirmed” notification is also sent (if the Confirmed status is enabled).
FAQ
Can I notify several channels?
No — one channel per workspace. Pick a broad channel (e.g. #sales) if several teams need to see the notifications.
Can I filter by venue?
No, filtering is by status only. All venues of the workspace notify into the same channel.
Do new inquiries trigger a notification?
No: the Slack integration covers event status changes (and signed amendments), not new inquiries landing in the inbox.
How do I disconnect?
In “Slack settings”, click “Disconnect Slack”. Notifications stop immediately.
