The notification center: read, clear, reply

The bell gathers what needs your attention, in "Priority", "Emails" and "All", with direct replies to your clients' emails.

Updated

The bell gathers what needs your attention in the workspace: a client who wrote to you, a mention, a signed proposal, a task assigned to you. The notification center is not only for reading: you reply to emails there, you clear what is done, and alerts close on their own when the action was taken elsewhere.

This article covers the panel itself. Which alerts you get and through which channel (email, app, push) is set in Set up your notifications.

What you will learn

  • Read the panel's tabs and filters.
  • Tell "Mark as read" from "Done".
  • Reply to an email without leaving your page.
  • Understand automatic resolution.

Open the panel

The bell sits at the top of the sidebar, next to search. A badge shows unread notifications. The panel opens on "Priority" when a priority alert is waiting, otherwise on "All".

Notifications belong to the open workspace: if you are a member of several workspaces, each has its own list.

The tabs

  • "Priority": mentions, events and tasks assigned to you, signed proposals, proposal options picked by clients, and alerts about an integration, billing or an interrupted email forwarding.
  • "Emails": client emails on your events.
  • "All": everything, including reminders and workflows.

When platform emails and direct emails are mixed, an "All", "Platforms", "Direct" filter appears under the tabs. The list is sorted by period: "Today", "This week", "Older". Similar alerts are grouped on one line.

Read, clear, delete

Each line offers three actions when you hover it:

  • "Mark as read": the notification stays in the list, without the unread dot.
  • "Done": the notification leaves the list. A message lets you "Undo" for a few seconds.
  • Delete: the notification is erased once the undo window has passed.

At the top of the panel, "Mark all as read" applies to the open tab. The gear leads to "Settings" > "Notifications".

Clicking a notification marks it as read and opens what it is about: the event, the proposal, the task.

Keyboard shortcuts

In the list: J and K (or the arrow keys) to move between lines, Enter to open, U to mark as read, E to clear, Delete to delete.

Reply to an email from the panel

  1. Click the notification of a client email.
  2. The "Reply to email" pane opens with the whole conversation and the event title.
  3. Write and send your reply. For the full record, click "Open the event".

When Joinways recognises a booking confirmation in an email, the notification shows the "Detected amount" and two buttons: "Confirm" to confirm the event, "Dismiss" to leave the status as it is.

Automatic resolution

You do not have to clear the bell by hand when the work is already done:

  • A reply sent to the client on an event, from Joinways, Gmail or Outlook, clears the email notifications received before it on that event.
  • A completed task clears its "Task owned" and "Task due tomorrow" notifications.

It does not matter who acted: if a teammate replied to the client, your notification is cleared too.

Troubleshooting

A notification disappeared

Cause: it was cleared automatically, by a reply to the client or a completed task, or it expired after 30 days. Fix: find the information on the event or task concerned.

Nothing arrives in "Emails"

Cause: received emails are notified to the event owner, or the alert is switched off in your preferences. Fix: check the event owner and "Settings" > "Notifications".

Frequently asked questions

Does "Done" delete the notification?

No. It leaves the list but is not erased right away. Only delete erases it.

Are my actions visible to my teammates?

No. Read, done and deleted only affect your list. Only automatic resolution applies to everyone.
