Clock PMS+: free rooms for the stay, on the event record

When a group needs rooms, the event record shows which ones are free for the whole stay and at what price. Joinways reads Clock PMS+ without writing anything back, and Clock remains the source of truth.

Read, never write

Joinways queries Clock PMS+ and shows the result. Reservations, rates, and availability are changed in Clock only.

An API user that only reads

Clock issues an API user and key to your hotel for Joinways. The key is stored encrypted and never shown again.

Read when you click

Availability for the event dates is read when you click and then displayed. We keep no copy of your inventory.

What the Clock PMS+ integration does

An inquiry for an overnight offsite covers both the meeting space and the guest rooms. The guest rooms are managed in Clock PMS+, and the connection shows them on the event record.

Prices from a Clock rate plan

Nightly prices and the stay total are read from the rate plan chosen in the settings, for one adult, at the cheapest rate of that plan, in the plan's currency.

Rooms free for the whole stay

The event's Accommodation block lists each room type, with the rooms free on every night and the number that can be sold for the whole stay, from Clock's occupancy forecast.

The right hotel, the right venue

One connection reads one Clock account. A group with several hotels limits each connection to one Joinways venue, so an event reads the hotel it takes place in.

Before you start

  • You are the owner or an admin of the Joinways workspace. Other roles cannot connect Clock PMS+.
  • Your Clock PMS+ subscription includes the API add-on. Clock can confirm it.
  • Clock has issued an API user and key to your hotel for Joinways, with your server, subscription number, and account number.
  • The account has at least one room type. Joinways checks this before saving.
  • To show prices, the account needs a rate plan you want proposals to use. Until one is chosen, availability shows on its own.

What moves between Joinways and Clock PMS+

  • Room types, with names and bed counts
  • Rooms free on each night of the stay
  • Rooms sellable for the whole stay, room type by room type
  • Nightly prices and stay totals from the selected rate plan
  • Hotel name, time zone, and currency
  • Nothing in the other direction: read-only by design

Security and access

  • The API user and key are checked against Clock, encrypted before storage, and never shown again.
  • Only the workspace owner and admins can connect Clock PMS+, change the rate plan used for prices, or disconnect it.
  • Every member can check availability on the events of their workspace, without ever seeing the credentials.
  • Joinways only reads: room types, rates, occupancy forecasts, and rate prices. It never writes to Clock.
  • Joinways only ever calls your Clock server, under clock-software.com. The address you enter cannot point it anywhere else.
  • The API user can be removed at any time in Clock, without going through Joinways.

What it does not do

  • It creates no reservation and changes no rate or availability in Clock PMS+.
  • It does not refresh by itself: availability is read when someone clicks Check availability or Refresh. One lookup covers a stay of up to 90 nights.
  • Prices come from one rate plan at a time, for one adult, at the cheapest rate of that plan.
  • The settings screen manages one Clock PMS+ connection at a time. If Mews, Apaleo, or Amenitiz is also connected, the event record shows that one.
  • Clock's meeting rooms, events, and group blocks are not read: the meeting space is planned in Joinways.

Connect Clock PMS+ to Joinways

The connection uses an API user that Clock issues to your hotel for Joinways. In Joinways, only the workspace owner and admins can set it up.

  1. 1

Get an API user from Clock

Ask Clock for an API user for Joinways: in Clock PMS+ through AppConnector when Joinways is listed there, otherwise through your Clock contact. You receive an API user and an API key.

  2. 2

    Note your server and numbers

Clock gives the API user with an address such as sky-eu1.clock-software.com/pms_api/80226/11919. It holds your server, your subscription number, and your account number.

  3. 3

    Enter them in Joinways

As the owner or an admin, go to Settings, Integrations, PMS, then Clock PMS+. Paste the address, or pick the server and type the two numbers, then enter the API user and key. They are checked against Clock, stored encrypted, and never shown again.

  4. 4

    Check the rate plan

Open the Clock PMS+ settings in Joinways and check which rate plan prices come from. The plan covering the most room types is preselected; change it if you sell to groups on another plan.

Clock PMS+, day to day

The overnight offsite answered on one screen

A company brings its leadership team together for two days in June and needs twelve rooms. The Accommodation block shows how many are still free on both nights and the total price, while you quote the meeting room.

The group with two hotels

An inquiry comes in for the Lyon venue. Its connection reads the Lyon hotel's Clock account, so nobody quotes the other hotel's rooms by mistake.

The group rate plan

If you sell groups on their own rate plan, select it in the Clock PMS+ settings in Joinways. Each room type then shows its nightly price and the stay total next to the availability.

Frequently asked questions

Why connect Clock PMS+ to Joinways?

Clock PMS+ is the property management system of more than a thousand independent hotels, many of them with meeting rooms and event business. It opens a read API to other tools, through an API user issued per vendor.

Joinways is one of those tools, for the event side. When an inquiry for a two-day offsite with fifteen rooms arrives, the person answering needs the room picture at that moment. One click on Check availability reads it from Clock and shows it in the Accommodation block of the event record.

And without the Clock PMS+ integration?

Someone opens Clock, looks up the free rooms, and pastes the answer into the reply. It works, but it is slower, and the number is often out of date by the time the client reads it.

Everything else in Joinways runs regardless of your PMS: inquiries, proposals, contracts, BEOs, and meeting-space scheduling.

Does Joinways create reservations in Clock PMS+?

No. The connection is read-only. Availability and prices are read and displayed; no reservation, rate, or availability is created or changed in Clock.

Can I connect Clock PMS+ to Joinways today?

Yes. Clock issues an API user to your hotel for Joinways, then the workspace owner or an admin enters it in Settings, Integrations, PMS, then Clock PMS+. The Joinways side takes a few minutes.

How do we get the API user?

From Clock. In Clock PMS+, AppConnector issues the API user when Joinways is listed there; otherwise your Clock contact creates it. The API add-on must be active on your subscription; Clock can tell you whether it is.

Show 5 more questions

Which Clock data is read?

Room types with names and bed counts, rate plans and their rates, rooms free per night from the occupancy forecast, and prices from the chosen plan. Reservations, folios, and guest data are not read.

What if we run several hotels on Clock PMS+?

Each Clock account is one hotel. Connect each one to a Joinways venue, so its events read the hotel they take place in. The settings screen manages one Clock PMS+ connection at a time.

Is our inventory copied into Joinways?

No. Availability is read for the dates of the event when someone clicks Check availability, then displayed. Nothing is stored in our database.

How does Joinways keep our Clock credentials?

The API user and key are checked against Clock, then stored encrypted. They are never shown again. Other workspace members see availability on events without ever seeing the credentials.

Which other PMS connect to Joinways?

Mews, Apaleo, Amenitiz, and OPERA Cloud connect too and feed the same Accommodation block. Cloudbeds is available on request. With any other PMS, the two tools run side by side.
